Ngā mihi nui kia koutou katoa,

Wow! It’s hard to believe that we’re through two weeks of the term already – and what a great start to my time as Principal/Tumuaki at Ngaere School. A huge thank you to the students, staff and community for the warm response and community spirit. Over the past fortnight, I’ve really enjoyed wandering through classrooms, connecting with the staff and starting to get to know your wonderful children. I look forward to continuing to build on these relationships as the term progresses.

Over the next couple of weeks, I plan to roll my sleeves up, get into the classrooms and hear from the kids what they love about their school and what ideas or suggestions they have for our staff to consider as we plan for 2025.

Please see below for more information regarding community engagement and consultation.

What’s on in Week 3:

  • Monday 28 October – Labour Day – No School
  • Tuesday 29 October – PTA Meeting – Everyone Welcome!
  • Friday 01 November – Gumboot Friday – Gold Coin Donation (bring ya gummies)
  • Friday 01 November – Bookclub Due

Kia ora koutou e te whānau, he mihi nui ki a koutou katoa!

“Greetings and acknowledgements to you all”

I hope you have all had a great couple of weeks with your children, I know the staff are looking forward to re-connecting with them tomorrow 🙂

I just wanted to take a quick moment to reach out before the “rubber hits the road,” say hello and just let you all know how excited I am, and privileged I feel to have been gifted the opportunity to lead as the new Principal at Ngaere School.

Born and bred in Hawera, Taranaki has always been home and Ngaere School has always had an amazing reputation as one of ‘schools of choice’ in the area. I look forward to ensuring that this continues to be the case.

There are many exciting opportunities that lie ahead and as I get to know you all in the days, weeks and months to come – I look forward to connecting with you in collaboration and consultation to review and evaluate the oportunities afforded to our children.

NB: The school website will be updated in coming weeks to ensure it reflects current school practices/contact details etc.

With Pet Day on Wednesday, we won’t send another formal newsletter out this week, so please see below for some key information.

Kia pai ō wiki! (Have a great week!)
