Term 3 Week 10

Wednesday 25th September 2024

Welcome – Nau mai haere mai

Kia ora koutou

It is with mixed emotions that I write my last newsletter for Ngaere School. I have enjoyed a wonderful time as your school principal and I am proud to leave the school in the great place it is today, ready for the new principal, Shane Burgess to make his mark.

The successful production last week will be a lasting memory for me; the whole school singing and the energetic dancing, the cute-ness of the 5 year olds right through to the polished performance of our Year 8 boys as our staunch mountains.

To all our lovely children, both past and present, thankyou for inspiring me every day with your energy, curiosity and smiles. Being part of the journey and seeing you grow into confident, thoughtful and kind individuals is one of the greatest joys of leading a school.

To all my staff, I am deeply thankful for your hard work and partnership, the work you do each day. Together, we have accomplished so much. Thankyou for your commitment to the well being and education of our learners.

To our parents, thank you for your trust and support. Your involvement has helped create a strong and caring environment where our young people can continue to thrive.

I am leaving, after more than 40 years in education, into ‘early-ish’ retirement. I carry with me wonderful memories and a quiet sense of pride in all I have achieved over that time, and the knowledge and deep satisfaction of the number of  lives I have touched and influenced in some way during that time, from here at Ngaere as well as other schools around the area, (including some of our current parents).

I wish the school continued success and look forward to seeing it flourish in the years to come.

Mā mua ka kite a muri, mā muri ka ora a mua

Those who lead give sight to those who follow, those who follow give life to those who lead.

With sincere thanks and warmest regards,

Megan England                                                                                          (Principal)

CONGRATULATIONS to the students who participated in the Taranaki Cross Country Champs in Hawera today.  Parker and Jake (pictured below) had 210 competitors in their race!

Technology

Our Year 7 & 8 children attend fortnightly technology sessions at Stratford High School. They have just completed a unit involving clock making.

We think they are amazing and each one just a little different from the other.

One of our Year 4 learners has come up with a great initiative…

Show your support of Lily’s fundraising by purchasing a Tie Dyed T shirt in your house colour.

Make sure you don’t miss out!

Remember to put your clocks forward this weekend for the start of Daylight Saving

Please do not include other plastic lids.

Milk & cream bottle lids only. Thank you.

SCHOOL ACCOUNTS:   Outstanding school accounts will come home with your child/ren today.  Payment of these would be appreciated.  If you are unable to pay the amount in full, we gladly accept regular affordable payments.  If you have any queries, please see Karen in the office.  Thank you.

A huge thank you to our Room 7 children who have been working with Miss Hulme and Mr Wells to tidy and reorganise our PE shed.

It’s been a great time for them to have a spring clean while also giving back to the school with service for their William Pike Challenge.

All classes will be putting their craft exhibits together on Monday and Tuesday, ready to be displayed on Wednesday which is Pet Day.

If you are passing, please take the time to check out the school lost property box which is situated on the deck area outside Rooms 4 & 5.  There are a lot of items in there especically shoes and socks, and you may recognise items that your child doesn’t.  This will be cleaned out at the end of the term.
