A message from the Ministry of Health:
Aotearoa is at very high risk of a measles outbreak and not enough of us are immune. To be immune, you must have had measles before OR at least two doses of a measles vaccine after the age of 12 months. Local childhood immunisation rates are declining. Low immunity and the close contact nature of education settings means one infected person could quickly expose and spread measles to many others, starting an outbreak that could be hard to control. People can be infectious before they develop measles symptoms and know they’re sick. Being immune is important for everyone’s safety – it’s the only way to make sure you won’t get or spread measles, even if you’ve been exposed. If you aren’t immune, or you’re not sure, two doses of the measles mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine is your best protection. You can book a vaccine online: Home – Book my vaccine

Disappointingly the Rawhitiroa Cross Country was cancelled today due to the miserable conditions. Those children who were going to race at Rawhitiroa have the opportunity to race in Stratford next Wednesday at the Central Schools’ Cross Country at Te Kapua Race Course. As there will be so many Ngaere children going they will travel by bus, as a school group, leaving at 10.30am, returning by 1.30pm.
The first race starts at 11.15am. More details will be sent home with those children who are racing.
Children who finish in top placings will then progress on to the Taranaki Champs in Hawera on 25 September.

Tennis Lessons
We will be once again offering small group tennis lessons (number in each group dependent on age and interest) with Ghislaine Brien. These lessons will be at a small cost (again dependent on the number in each group) and will take place at lunchtime once a week. If your child is interested in this great opportunity, please leave your child’s name with Karen in the office. It is anticipated the lessons will start in Term 4 and potentially carry into Term 1 of next year.

The Conservation Week Expo will be held at the Stratford War Memorial today from 2-5pm there will be loads of conservation, environmental, sustainability and climate focused organisations in person and sharing information on how schools, ECE’s and youth can get involved with them. It’s a great time to pre-prepare for 2025 and find out who’s who in the Zoo so-to-speak.
Stratford Primary will also have a stall selling their enviro products plus there will be a sausage sizzle outside, tea & coffee and vegan options inside.
There will also be hands on workshops with Wildlife AI and Garden to Table so come on down. Loads to get involved in.
